Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Getting started
Setting the sleep timer
The sleep timer switches off the system after a specified time so you can fall asleep without worrying about it.1
� Press SLEEP repeatedly to select an option then press ENTER. Choose between the following options:2
� SLP AUTO � Switches off automatically after the currently playing CD, Video CD or DivX disc has finished. � SLP ON � Switches off after about an hour � SLP OFF � Cancels the sleep timer After selecting SLP ON, you can press SLEEP again to check how much time is left. Each line indicates approximately 12 minutes (remaining):
SLP - - - - Dimming the display
You can choose to dim the display if you find it too bright.

Press SHIFT+SYSTEM SETUP.
2 Use / (cursor left/right) then ENTER to choose the dimmer setting. This is shown in the front panel display. 3 Use / (cursor up/down) to select LIGHT or DARK then press ENTER.
Note
1 The display dims when the sleep timer is set. 2 Sleep Auto will not work with WMA/MP3 discs, Video CD/Super VCDs during PBC playback, or CDs in repeat play.
