I purchased the unit from a private party and the original owners manual was not available. Having the ability to download it was extremely helpful and clarified operating the equipment immensely. This is a complicated unit and without the manual I would not have been able to maximize it's potential. Thank you.

Inserting the Battery
After charging the battery, insert it in the camera as described below.
1 Open the battery-chamber cover.
2 Insert the battery.
Insert the battery with the terminals first and the orange stripe aligned with the orange battery latch. Slide the battery into the camera, keeping the battery latch pressed to one side as shown below. Confirm that the battery is securely latched.

A Note Be sure the camera is off before opening the battery-chamber cover. C Cautions � Do not open the battery-chamber cover when the camera is on. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to image files or memory cards. � Do not use excessive force when handling the battery-chamber cover.
Battery latch C Caution Insert the battery in the correct orientation. Do NOT use force or attempt to insert the battery upside down or backwards. The battery will slide in easily in the correct orientation.
