Well.. I'd searched for this manual and although I found many copies online I was pleased to find your website with a well balanced pricing system and easy to search and follow links. That together with the very quick response time was just what I was looking for.. being a very impatient tech.. ;-) I had the service manual in front of me within a short time.
Bookmarked.. and you can bet I will always come here first for my service & user manuals..

The service manual when downloaded and printed out was clear and easy to read. I would have liked to have been able to enlarge some details, but this was not possible as the file permissions did not allow this. The service was very good. The time taken from placing my order to downloading the document was only a few minutes.

Disconnecting drive from computer Storing the peripheral cable
or if you are using drive connected with the i.LINK cable.
Follow procedure below to disconnect this from your computer. Store peripheral cable inside when you are not using the drive

� Before disconnecting the drive, close any open programs. Open door on rear of the drive.

� When using the drive an R505 series computer with a docking station, disconnect
drive from computer as described below before removing the docking station from the computer. Securely connect to the peripheral cable

� If message below appears when you attempt to disconnect the drive, close any connector.

To use drive again after disconnecting the peripheral cable or i.LINK cable, perform steps described in section �Connecting the Drive� on page 9. The drive will be detected automatically by your Windows operating system.

The �Stop a Hardware Device� screen appears.
3 Select the device you selected in step 2, and then click �OK�.
The message �The Sony i.LINK Hard Disk Drive IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device� can now be safely removed from the system appears.
4 Click �OK�, then click �Close� to close the screen.
You can now disconnect the drive from your computer.
5 Disconnect peripheral cable or the i.LINK cable.

If you are using drive with i.LINK cable connected, disconnect the AC adapter after disconnecting the i.LINK cable.
