��� ROLAND VG-8EX TURBO FACTS ��� The VG-8EX Virtual Guitar system is a new product based on Roland�s proprietary (COSM) Technology, designed for live performance and studio use. It uses Variable Guitar Modeling (VGM) and Harmonic Restructure Modeling (HRM), to accurately emulate the sounds of the most popular guitars and amplifiers, and to create new unique sounds. Features include: � 224 Patches & 160 Preset & 64 User � Eleven pickup models including - Rick, Tele, LP w/P-90s, Silvertone w/Lipsticks, Strat w/S-S-H active EMGs � Seven amplifier models including - SLDN, British Combo, Modern Stack, Studio Lead � Six speaker cabinet models including - British 2x12, Classic 4x10, and Modern Stack � Three microphone models with three position settings Small and Large Dynamic, Condenser � � � � Seven effect pedal models including - Distortion, Compressor, Equilizer, Wah Polyphonic pitch shifter - Provides intelligent pitch shifting and instant alternate tunings, such as open G, open D, 12-string or detune Three digital effects - Modulation, Delay, Reverb Thirteen HRM instruments including - Bowed, Complex, Synthetic, Resonator, Drawbar � Selecting Pickups 1) Press PLAY and use the VALUE dial to select Patch �C62 MOD BLUZ.� 2) Press INST followed by F1 to select �Pickup.� 3) Press F6 and use the VALUE dial to select the desired pick-up. � Selecting the Guitar Amplifiers 1) Press PLAY and use the VALUE dial to select Patch �C62 MOD BLUZ.� 2) Press INST followed by F3 to select �AMP.� 3) Press F2 and use the VALUE dial to select the desired amp model. � Selecting the Speaker Variations 1) Press PLAY and use the VALUE dial to select Patch �C62 MOD BLUZ.� 2) Press INST followed by F4 to select �SP&MIC.� 3) Press F1 and use the VALUE dial to select the desired speaker type. � Selecting the Hollow Body Guitar Models 1) Press PLAY and use the VALUE dial to select Patch �C11 ACUSTIC.� 2) Press INST followed by F3 (under the BODY graphic.) 3) Press PAGE two times to access the BODY-TYPE. 4) Press F2 and use the VALUE dial to select the desired hollow body guitar type. 5) Press F6 and use the VALUE dial to change the body size as desired. � Pitch Shifting Capabilities Pitch shifting effects include intelligent harmonist, pitch pedal, and glide. Use the following procedure to make pitch shift changes to a Patch: 1) Select the desired Patch, Press INST and use the CURSOR buttons to select �P-SHIFT.� 2) CURSOR to type and use the VALUE dial to select �String.� 3) Press F2 and use the VALUE dial to select one of the 11 preset tuning configurations. 4) Press F1 and use the VALUE dial to select �Harmo.� 5) Press F2 and use the VALUE dial to select �+3rd.� 6) Press F3 and use the VALUE dial to select the desired key. � Harmonic Restructure Modeling (HRM) All thirteen HRM algorithms are shown in Patch Presets A54 through A84. The algorithm is shown at the top of the LCD. 1) Press PLAY and use the VALUE dial to select �A54.� 2) Press INST, then F2 to edit parameters. 3) Using the F buttons and the VALUE dial, experiment with this algorithm. Parameters differ somewhat per algorithm. If the PAGE LED is lit, the PAGE button will select additional edit functions. 4) Repeat steps 1 - 3 with different Patches that use HRM.

� Initialization Hold down Function buttons F1, F3, and F5, and turn the power on. 1) Press F6 to restore the System parameters and all of the Patches to the factory settings. � Setting the GK-2A Pickup Sensitivity Sensitivity should be set once for each guitar being used. Sensitivity settings may be saved in one of five memory locations. 1) Press SYSTEM, then press F1. 2) Play each string to activate its level meter. CURSOR to the string number and use VALUE dial to adjust the sensitivity. Set all six string sensitivity settings. 3) Press PLAY to return to play mode. � Playing Patches Patches can be selected from Play mode by either using the VALUE dial or by using the footswitches: 1) Hold down the GK-2A S1 button and press the VG-8EX GROUP UP & DOWN footswitches to change groups. 2) Use the BANK UP & DOWN footswitches to change banks. 3) Use footswitches 1 through 4 to change Patches.
